Day 2 was a great success! We worked the boys really hard and we ended it well with a super yummy dinner! I was very proud of the boys, especially my 3 slow ones (Tyler, Jared and Austin). In fact, I was actually very surprised at how openly negative Austin was acting throughout the entire trip. Honestly, I lost my cool with him one time - he was really disrupting the group and it was driving me nuts. In retrospect, I could have handled things much better!
In the morning, we had a very nice breakfast - French Toast, eggs with left-over brats and milk/juice. We cleaned up camp, packed everyone up and we hit the trail for twin sisters at a little before 9am. Lucky too - the park was very busy all weekend, so I'm glad we got an early start. The hike was a little over 7 miles round trip, but it was much harder than the last time I hiked it with Ashtyn and Alyssa. The floods from 2 years ago washed out a huge portion of the trail and the current trails have you going straight up the mountain to get to the top. Very tough hike!!
A little snow on the trail - made for some fun snowball fights - in late June!
After twin sisters, I took the crew to Dairy Queen for a break, then we split up. Zeb took the boys to the trout farm while Jeremy and I picked up a few things at the grocery store, then met up with Eric Greene, who brought up Preston and Brennan. We all re-connected at the trout farm.
We had a blast catching fish at the trout farm. It turns out that out of the 10 fish that we caught, 8 of them were caught using my pole and lure. I had a golden spinner that was just incredible! The fish were all over it! So much fun. In the end, we had 122 inches of fish from 9 fish. We had some really big ones as well!
After fishing, we got back to camp, Preston and Brennan set up their tent, and we made a yummy dinner with fish, steak, potatoes and yummy pinapple upside down cake in the dutch oven. We also played an awesome game of ultimate frisbee and enjoyed another fireside from Brother Huff. It was a really good day!
