Saturday AM Session
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
- Excellent introduction of how we sometime make things way more complicated than they should be.
- Speaks of how the Gospel can bring much happiness and joy.
- Why is it that some people don't seem to be able to find the joy and happiness of others:
- We make things too complicated - great example of a complex and beautiful quilt with the words "simplify" as the point of the lesson. Are we focusing on the basic principles of the Gospel - not the complex ones!
- Start where we are - we don't need to "become" someone or something to begin - begin where we are and start to apply the simple and beautiful principles of the Gospel to help us achieve our potential and our dreams - the true happiness and joy of the Gospel.
Elder M. Russell Ballard
- Teaches of truths of the Gospel
- Revelation & inspiration of the Prophets and the Apostles
- The plan of salvation that can lead us back home to our Heavenly Parents. Ties this back to the Atonement of Jesus Christ, which enables us to overcome our weaknesses and return to live with God.
- Heavenly Father created Adam & Eve for a lofty purpose - to multiply and replenish the Earth. This is a fundamental part of the plan of salvation.
- 20th anniversary of the Family: A Proclamation to the World. The disintegration of the family was prophesied.
- The Sabbath Day is a key component to help us remain unspotted from the World. Speaks of the important of testimony meeting as a part of the Sabbath Day worship once a month. Speaks of the new program where the Ward Council helps select the topics and the music for Sacrament meetings one month in advance.
- Ends with a great analogy of the Church of Jesus Christ being a boat that help us traverse the ocean to eternal life. We can't jump out and swim ourselves - we need the boat - and we should find every opportunity to help with the duties on the boat.
We only got to hear the first couple of talks of the morning session because we were attending soccer and volleyball games. Looking forward to hearing the rest of the session.
