Knee Injury - Finally a Prognosis

I've been dealing with ever increasing pain in my left knee for nearly 2 years. It has become more difficult each day to do what I love and I've actually given up on running and basketball - just too painful.

I set a New Years resolution to see a professional and work on a plan to address my knee pain. Throughout 2015, I was told the pain was likely due to my AS arthritis and I would need to learn to deal with it. That's not good enough for me, so I finally set an appointment with Dr. Hartman.

Bingo - the X-ray immediately showed serious issues with my knee that will need surgery. I'm currently "bone-on-bone" in my left knee and a further MRI showed that my meniscus is completely gone on the outside part of my knee. Eventually, I will need a partial knee replacement, but for now, I will try to have the meniscus repaired and see if I can get by another 10 years or so before the partial knee replacement. Surgery is scheduled for 3/22/16 - looking forward to moving on and getting back into shape.

I've gained nearly 30 lbs over the last year - much of that due to pain in my knee not letting me be as active as I need to keep pace with my calorie intake. Plus - with all of the travel for work, my calorie intake has been throught the roof! Can't wait to have surgery and get back in shape. It will be a tough, hard climb - but it's what I need!
