Mexico Trip - Day 7

Today is the last full day of the trip to Mexico. We stuck around the hotel, but we did hit Xcaret in the afternoon to do another underground river and get some souvenirs.

Our last day in Mexico. Everyone was feeling like we had had a wonderful vacation and seen and done so many exciting things. We were ready to return home to our baby and resume our work. It is wonderful to relax and take time to recharge and I think your body and mind tell you when they are ready to start working and being productive again. We were all feeling pretty ready, I think. We spent this entire day in our swimsuits = awesome!!! I went down to the beach early again with my scriptures and journal. I enjoyed the peace of the ocean alone while I read and wrote. We had breakfast at the oceanfront buffet and then played in the bay all morning long. It was so wonderful. We walked back up to the beachfront buffet for lunch and then traded in some supplies at our rooms and headed into Xcaret Park. We swam in another of the underground rivers that went through a different part of the park. We rented flippers this time and went much faster. We came out at the ocean again and explored the area up there a little more. Then we found a spot in the fading afternoon sun and sat out on the bay they had there while Jantzen and Aubrey played on the tubes in the water. Alyssa played with them for a while but the rest of us just sat in the chairs, enjoying the relaxation and the last of the sun and the surf, the birds and the palm trees, the hint of Mexican music coming from the bar a distance away. We slowly gathered our belongings after the sun had set and returned to our rooms to wash up for dinner. We ate at a beautiful seafood restaurant on the oceanfront and then packed up for the trip home. It had been a wonderful experience for everyone! I hope the kids will remember being in a different country with different people, foods, traditions, homes, and etc. and remember that it was beautiful and they were kind and that they are as happy and proud of their country and culture as we are of ours. I hope that they learned many things about being kind and considerate and sharing and giving that will stick with them and help to shape their character.
