Flying Home - Very Long Week

I'm pretty sure that I never want to spend another full week in California ever again. It is just too much time away from my sweet family. I think that I spent probably 70-80 hours working this week and I'm just exhausted. I can't wait to get home, sleep in my own bed, and be with my kids all weekend long. It will be GREAT!

I have found myself thinking of my Mom often this week. It it most likely because I have been alone this week, and I've had the time to think of her. I really do miss her. She is an angel and I'm so glad that she's out there watching over me.

This week - I lost my focus again - I was selfish again. I've been trying to stay on my AS diet of no breads, starches or yogurt, and I think I've done a pretty good job. But the diet is definitely adding a little more stress to my live. Plus, I'm pretty certain that I haven't really come to grips with the loss of my mother yet. I think that causes me even more stress - but I will get through this. All of this, coupled with the fact that I have been spending WAY too much time working and stressing this week - this has led me to lose focus and succomb to wordly temptations. But - there's a good part to this story! This morning, as I had breakfast in the hotel after forcing myself to get up and exercise on the elliptical, I was reading the scriptures and I stumbled on some great verses in 1 Nephi 12 & 13. They were awesome!! I was so very amazed by what I read. This is where we learn about the "Great & Abominable Church". I've studied these chapters many times in the past, but this time - they hit home. The desire of Satan and his angels is to bring us into "captivity" by having us make worldy, selfish choices, which lead to increased temptations and even damnation. This is how Satan operates and he is VERY good. He is shockingly good! He is very subtle and you have to keep your armour and your guard up at ALL times. You can never let it down. For me, this was very insightful this morning. It helped me understand how important it is for me to build walls of protection around me and my family so that it is harder for Satan to attack us. Also, I really feel like we need to do everything we can to keep our home as a place of refuge and safety for our children. The upcoming year will bring many changes to our little family and I want to do everything I can to keep my family safe. I love this so VERY, VERY much!!

Well, this week, I visited with Brocade, Google, Cisco - Venkat, Cisco - Guntram, Cisco - Tuan, Cisco - ENG (today's golf tournament) and I spent many hours meeting with the new folks from LSI. They have a very nice new building and it was great to meet with them. We have some big obstacles to overcome, but I've been very impressed with everyone. I also got to attend my first meeting with Hock Tan. Greg asked me to take his place for the Avago QBR - it was very interesting. The folks in the meeting were - Hock Tan, Bryan Ingram, Jim Anderson, Frank Ostojic, Prabhu Krishnamurthy, Angelo Forerro, Vijay (new marketing guy), Stephen Kitchell (on the phone) and Todd Metcalf (on the phone). The meeting went really well and it was very fun to rub shoulders with those guys. I was actually very impressed with how much Hock understands about our ASIC business. He's a really tough guy - has no issues with making tough decisions. I was just really impressed!! I have definitely discovered that one of my weaknesses is that I sometimes spend too much time trying to make the "right" decision instead of just sticking to my guns and making the "best" decision. With this new organization, I can tell that I'm going to have to be more proactive, more assertive and push hard within the organization. I do think that the LSI folks are super sharp, but I'm convinced, after meeting with them, that our guys are just as smart and we have a really good flow in place. We need to push hard to make those flows successful with the new folks.

Well, it's time to work on some emails. Here are some photos that I took this week during my trip to California.

This is the courtyard of the LSI building that is now an Avago building. This is a super nice building and I'm glad this will be our new "home" when we travel to CA.

Here's my guest badge for my all day meetings with Google. That was a really long day!!

Here's our foursome from golf today. We played at SummitPointe in Milpitas today. It was perfect weather and we had a really great time. The two Indian guys were named Ramesh and Jubil. They were NOT very good golfers at all, but we still had a great time. The man in the white shirt is Michael Bustamente and he was pretty fun to play with all day. I just realized that I was the only one in shorts. I thought it was pretty hot, so I'm not sure why the others played in pants.
