Memorial Day 2014

Although we worked our tails off today, I might consider this to be one of my favorite Memorial Days of all time. It was really great! The best part of the day was that I am actually feeling a little better! My energy level is higher and I'm just feeling happier. Totally awesome!

  • First, we got everyone up and going and we showed up at the Windsor Lake for the Tyler 2-miler. It was fun to run around the lake together as a family. Aubrey rode her bike, but she ended up going too fast and Jantzen and I had to run really fast to keep up with her. We also took both dogs, which was really fun for them. For the most part, they behaved themselves really well. It was great. Here are some photos from the race. As you can see, the new Windsor chapel is being built in the background. This is VERY exciting for us. We hope to be attending this new chapel by the end of this year!
  • After the run, we drove up to the park in Severance for the annual pancake breakfast for the ward. As always, it was great and the kids enjoyed playing with some friends from the Windsor Ward. Here's Alyssa playing with one of the Woodward girls:
  • After the pancake breakfast, we drove home and spent 8 straight hours working on the yard. I borrowed Shawn Murray's zero-turn lawn mower and Amy used our John Deere tractor and we tackled the horribly long field. We also mowed the grass. At around 2pm, we had mulch delivered for all of the trees in the field and we spend the rest of the evening mulching all of the trees. We were pretty tired by the time we finished. Wow! Ashtyn and Alyssa helped a bunch with the mulching. Ashtyn really enjoyed driving the tractor. Check her out in these photos. Alyssa also loved riding in the trailer in the back.
