Disney World Vacation - Day 5

Although the family was getting pretty tired, we were still very excited to visit Disney's Hollywood Studios, especially after such a nice day at the Animal Kingdom the day before. Unlike the other parks, we found ourselves spending much more time enjoying the shows and much less time worried about the rides. We enjoyed the very popular Toy Story Mania - the 3-D shooting gallery ride, but the rest of the day was all about the shows, which made the day a little easier and low-key - much needed this far into the trip. The long days were definitely getting to us a bit. This was also the only day of the week, really, where we arrived at the park before opening and we left at closing - we took in everything we could. Plus, Fantasmic was the night-time show at Disney's Hollywood Studios and you can't miss Fantasmic. It was definitely different in Disney World vs. Disneyland, but it was AWESOME!!

The first thing we did was hit Toy Storia Mania - we decided we wanted to ride this one twice. So, we rode it immediately, then we used our Fastpass+ to ride it again later!

We wanted to get some photos by the actual Cinderella carriage, but the lines were REALLY long. They girls did take the time to watch the extended preview of the movie while Grandpa and I saved some seats for the Stunt Show - one of the best shows I've ever seen live!

A definite highlight of the vacation was the Frozen sing-along. They did such a great job "acting" out the story along with actual scenes from the movie. Then - the crowd just sung along to the music from the movie. It was really fun!

A fun shot of the Main Street in the park with Grandpa and Grandma walking towards us - it was crowded - but all of the parks were actually VERY crowded!

Another favorite - the Beauty and the Beast production. They did a great job, even if they shortened the story a bit. But it was still very entertaining. The Gaston was awesome!

We had to take a photo of Baymax and Hiro from a distance. The line to get photos with them and actually meet them was 2.5 hours - I was NOT waiting that long for anything!

As can be seen above, it really was a beautiful park!

Getting ready to watch Fantasmic. We brought our own dollar-store light-up necklaces and bracelets. Super smart idea!

A definite highlight for me and Alyssa - after Fantasmic we ran over and waited around 15 minutes to ride Aerosmith's Rock N' Roller Coaster. It was truly and incredible ride! It was indoors, like Space Mountain, but you do flips and twists and there are neon lights with road signs. The roller coaster cars were designed as a long "limo" to go the concert. It was awesome!

We also saw the Indiana Jones stunt show - it was really great. Jantzen fell in love with Indiana Jones after watching the show! I video taped that one, so I don't have any photos.

Here's the agenda for Day 5 - it was awesome!

Looking at the agenda above, we did not to the Jedi training. It was setup a little differently and you have to sign up for a certain time to be able to join the academy. It was VERY crowded and we decided that it wasn't worth the wait - the kids had already done it at Disneyland. We also didn't do Star Tours - we did that in Disneyland and the ride made me sick - don't need to do that one again!

A couple of other rides:

  • Dinosaur - we really liked this one. Ryan & Jennica had told us it was scary, but it wasn't bad at all. The kids liked it - it was similar to the Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland.
  • The Great Movie Ride - we did this one towards the end, right before Fantasmic. The line was kind of long, but it was a great ride. Marilyn and LaMar really enjoyed the ride as it visited a bunch of older movie titles. It was fun though. I had to close the kids eyes during the Alien movie review!
  • The Little Mermaid - This was pretty good, but they skipped a ton of the movie. But, it was enjoyable and the wait wasn't too bad.
  • Disney Jr - this is a must see with little kids. I bailed out a little early to go wait in another line, but it was VERY hot, so the kids enjoyed this one!
