Hong Kong - September 2015

For a change of pace, we decided to stay the weekend in Hong Kong to give us more options of things to do. Well - we both decided that there's just not that much to actually do in Hong Kong, so we will likely never do that again!

However, I did get to do a session at the Hong Kong Temple and I barely made it! I was dropped off directly from the airport and arrived at 11:50am for the last session of the day, which as at 12:15pm. There was only 8 of us in the session and it was in Cantonese. But they gave me headphones and I enjoyed the session in English. The prayer circle at the end was a huge challenge, but the experience was incredible. I took the time in the session to ponder about my new calling as the Bishop - it's intimidating and I'm definitely very concerned about what I should be doing and how I should be leading the great people of my ward. My thoughts as I've prayed about this are that I should just be myself - have fun with the families of the ward - and show them how much I love them and care for them. They are so important to me and I love them all so very, very much!!

I've already started feeling the additional weight of the mantel of being a Bishop. I'm praying for the families, I catch myself thinking of them each and every day! I love them all so very much!

Here are some photos of the day:

After my temple session, we checked into our hotel, which was a different kind of hotel. They actually had photos of "artistic" topless women - I was pretty embarrased waiting in line, forced to have those photos right in front of me... We stayed at the Park Lane hotel. It was a great location.

Here's my view out of my hotel room:

The view from Jack's hotel room wasn't quite as nice:

Here's a view of the street right outside of the hotel:

On our way to dinner, we passed by the Hong Kong ferris wheel:

We ate in the tall building to the left of the ferris wheel - tallest in Hong Kong.

For dinner, we went back to the top of the Ritz-Carlton hotel - the 118 floor of the tallest building in Hong Kong. What an incredible view. We had a front row seat of the view throughout dinner. It was AWESOME!

We got to watch the sunset over Hong Kong from our view - one of the reasons it was so cool! At night, we took some great night shots.

After dinner, we hit the night street market and I was able to get some fun surprises for the kids. It was fun to shop and negotiate!
