I'm officially an old man now! And with my knees and back pain - it feels like it. Amazing how we take for granted our youth and the strength and energy that comes with youth. In spirit, I still feel young, inexperienced and naive - but in body, I can tell that I'm aging. I'm looking very much forward to getting my knee fixed so that I can return to exercising each day, going through physical therapy to get my leg back in shape and losing some weight!
My birthday was on a Sunday this year, and it wasn't much of a holiday since I have plenty of work to do on Sunday's. But it was still a nice day and I enjoyed spending time with the family as well as having a great day at church.
Amy let me sleep in and the kids enjoyed "cuddling" with Dad. I actually enjoy this as well - my kids are the best!
Adam and Sierra came over in the evening for steak and salmon on the grill. It was also Super Bowl Sunday, with the Denver Broncos playing the Carolina Panthers. The family handed me presents and we enjoyed the evening together. Towards the later evening, Ryan and Jennica joined us and we watched the super bowl (we waited so we could skip the commercials and half-time). The Bronco's defense was just incredible and they basically won the super bowl for them. Manning played okay (i.e. He didn't make any costly mistakes), but I'm glad he won so that he can retire on top.)
Here's some fun photos of the evening:
