2017 New Year's Resolutions

2016 was a year that I do not want to repeat. Honestly, we had such a great year with many great highlights, but my health was so poor and my weight has ballooned from around 210 to 240 --> driven primarily by another year of >100k miles flying and little to no exercise due to my knee. (For more details on the highlights and lowlights of 2016 - see the post on the review of 2016)

But - moving into 2017 - I'm excited to get myself on a diet and to really start to get control of my life again. I want to place much more focus on my family and my health this year, which should push work and church lower on the priority scale. Amy and I have been pushing so hard since August that it has negatively affected our relationship and our entire family. We've been too busy and it needs to stop.

Here are the resolutions that I have for 2017:
- Exercise --> 4-5 times a week, focusing on strengthening my legs and upper body
- Diet --> do the Body for Life program again for at least 3 months. I need to re-train my body to eat well again
- Health --> focus on eating less "inflammatory" foods to see if it helps my AS issues
- Scripture study --> Dedicated time each day in the morning for scripture study - need to focus on Book of Mormon, Gordon B Hinckley manual and the 2 handbooks
- Journal --> spend time at night at least 3 times a week to write in my journal and keep track of my progress on goals. Use the new blog app.
- Marriage goals --> read together with Amy every night and go on a date together every week. Try to do something special for Amy every month.
- Family goals --> family scripture study every night and FHE every Monday. When I'm traveling - I should try to join family scripture study remotely to demonstrate how important it is for the family.
- Professional goals --> drive more methodology focused discussion - be more involved in professional development for myself and my team. Take Michael's feedback to heart and see what I can do better to be more engaged with my teams.
