I've definitely learned since serving a mission that serving others is the true way to happiness and peace in this life. Whenever we are more focused on ourselves than those around us, we tend to be more judgmental and less caring. As the Bishop, I've come to know every family in the ward on a much deeper level and it has really been insightful to have such a different level of perspective and love for each member of the ward. We have an incredible ward with so many wonderful members. It is truly an honor and a blessing to be able to serve them as the Bishop! I'm still learning a ton and I'm still making mistakes, but I'm trying my best and getting closer to the Lord each day. I've grown so much over the past 2 years - although its a big sacrifice to spend 20+ hours a week as a Bishop, I would not trade it for anything and I know I'm going to miss it when it is over.....
