Wow - what an incredible day today!! Our little baby Jarrett was born today! He is so cute and we are so very happy to have him in our family. I'm looking over at Amy and the baby now and they are so precious. It looks like Jarrett is wiggling a little and probably getting hungry. The nurse should be in soon to look at Amy and I will try to wake him up and feed him. Hopefully he can sleep for a while so that we can get some sleep tonight. The nurses want us to keep him in the room at night, so we may not be getting as much sleep.
Here's the events of the day:
- 5:30am - up and out for a 3 mile run. My back was killing me, so I was really hoping to loosen things up a bit. I think it worked pretty well. It definitely let me focus on Amy and the baby instead of myself, which was really nice!
- 7:30am - arrived at the hospital. Everything was going smoothly until we found out that Angela King, our doctor, was delayed in a previous surgery. So, we waited until 12:30pm before we went into the OR
- 1:00pm (exactly) - Jarrett Russell Brown was born and we are so excited to have him in our family. He weighed 7lbs 10.6 oz and was 20 inches long. I actually think he was longer than that, but they don't really do a perfect job measuring right away.
- 1:30pm - we were in recovery. The cool thing was that Jarrett and I both go to join Amy in recovery. This is the first time we got to do that. It was awesome!
- 4:00pm - we finally moved into our room. We relaxed a bit and then the family showed up at around 6pm. We also got to see Cindy Winklepleck. She even bought dinner for the family, which was super cool. Very impressed by her hospitality!
- 8:00pm - the family went home and we started getting settled for the night. Here's a few photos of Jarrett and Amy!
