Shanghai, China - Part 1

We're just about to arrive in San Francisco, CA after a 9.5 hour flight from Shanghai. It was a very successful and even enjoyable trip to Shanghai. I'm very glad that we went right away and met with the team. I'm actually VERY impressed with the NG Bragi team and I think they will do a GREAT job with ZTE. I'm also glad that Jack's has been assigned to be on the team. It will be good for him adn the team.

We actually had a really good time in Shanghai that first day. We landed with Xiaofeng around 1pm, checked into the hotel and relaxed for an hour, then we headed out and did some sight seeing. Xiaofeng is a great technical manager and engineer, but not the best sight-seeing guide. But he did speak the language, which helped! I did take a ton of photos of the day:

First - here's our hotel - the Parkyard Hotel. It was actually a great little hotel with Executive Suite rooms, which were very big for Asian standards:

Our first stop on or tour of Shanghai was the Bund, which is the older side of Shanghai, on the west side of the river. The buildings are architecture are European, from when this part of the world had much British influence. We took a long walk up one of the famous tourist roads and it was really fun:

The photo above is actually at the edge of the Bund, looking over the river into Pudong, the financial district with all of the tall skyscrapers. The tall building on the right is one of the top 5 tallest in the world!

We decided to check out the financial district, so we used the "sightseeing tunnel" to get there. It was about $10 US to go through the tunnel - it was basically a light-show through the tunnel. Definitely interesting, but kind of "hokey".

The photo above is the view of the Bund from Pudong. Pretty cool and it started getting dark, so the lights started coming out.

For dinner, we did "hot pot", which is always a favorite in Asia. Jack had never done it before - he enjoyed it. We had WAY too much food, but it was fun!

Here are a bunch of photos of the beautiful lights at night. The night life was really quite fun!

After dinner, we went to check out some electronic shops, which was pretty fun. I was amazed at how many electronics shops there were - even more amazed at the number of iPhone's being sold. They didn't really have any good deals, though... I did enjoy the fun "scooter", but it nearly killed me!

After looking at electronics, we went back to the hotel and passed out - we were exhausted!!
