After we got back from the break, I asked Brad Goertzen what he and his family did over the holidays. He mentioned that he took his family to Beaver Meadows to go sledding and they even did a horse-drawn sleigh ride. It sounded like fun, so we decided to do the same thing with the kids today. The kids were out of school for Martin Luther King day and I decided to take the day off so we could have some fun as a family. We did just that.
Beaver Meadows provides the sleds (tube-sleds) as they also have a lift to haul you up to the top. They had 11 different runs and the kids had a blast. At first, we "raced" down the slow runs "ZIP" and "ZOOM", but they eventually got brave and we tackled Geranemo, Beaver Drop, Lightning and Thunder. In the end, Thunder became everyone's favorite - the jump at the end was awesome. Amy and I took turns with the little man. He got pretty cold, so I'm glad we only did a 2-hour session. We really did have a great time doing this and I want to do it every year!
