We had a great Stake Conference meeting today - I really enjoyed the talks. In fact, the meeting started with President Lewis breaking into tears as he read the names of the General Authorities to be sustained at the beginning of conference. Little did he know that he really brought the spirit into the meeting with that act and it just kept getting stronger. Key take-aways for me:
- I must spend more time with the scriptures every day!
- I need to pray more each day - my relationship with my Savior needs to be strengthened
- I need to commit myself more fully to being closer to my wife - our relationship is strained and it needs to be approve.
After Stake Conference, Amy and I worked together to do the finances. It started out great, but it took too long to finish and we ended up arguing about a few things. Worst of all - it chased the spirit from our home. We have since decided to NEVER do finances again on Sundays. I like the idea of working on them together, but not on Sunday. We still ended the day well, but it could have been much better.
I did a home teaching appointment with Brother Stocks to see the Greene's. It was great visit, but it took a full hour of the afternoon. I love to go home teaching, but I just don't have enough time with my family and it is really a sacrifice sometimes! We also had a youth fireside that night and it was fantastic - definitely one of the best we've ever had. We had our four recently returned missionaries as a panel where the kids all asked questions and it was a great meeting. The spirit was strong and it was fun to be there. Here are a few photos that I captured of the evening.
