Happy New Year

The holidays have really been fantastic this year. It has been so much fun to have all of Amy's family out to visit and we also enjoyed seeing Adam and Mary several times over the holidays as well. Amy reminded me that this year, we hosted Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Even and New Year's Day at our house. We are both pretty tired and now we know why!!

For New Year's Eve, we had a great day! The Bountiful Holts and the Shepherd's were staying with us and Lamar and Marilyn were staying in Denver with Ryan and Jennica. On New Year's Eve, we played some games around the house, then everyone from Denver came up and we played more games. It was really fun, just bumming around and playing games. We actually did stay up until midnight, but we did so more by accident than on purpose. We didn't even watch the ball drop.

Here's a great shot of Jeremy after playing "Suspend" on New Year's Eve:

On New Year's Day, Steve and Alisha left for Utah and there was much tears! Jantzen and Mitchell were both very sad that Mitchell had to go home. The two of them have really become great friends. I hope that we continue to stay close with the Shepherd's! I love that the cousins love each other so much! We should definitely try to Skype more this upcoming year!

For the rest of the day, we just bummed around some more, played some more games, and just chilled. Kelly was actually pretty sick and slept for a good portion of the day. She has been fighting off a pretty bad migrane for a week - we gave her a blessing in the evening.

Right before dusk, William talked Jeremy into taking him outside to play in the snow. It had been so cold since Christmas that we hadn't been out too much, but we all decided to put on the snow gear and play outside a bit. I'm very glad we did. We made snow angels, took the dogs with us, and just had a blast. We even ventured out on the frozen lake - it was very frozen. We walked all the way to the other side on the frozen lake, and the kids thought it was VERY cool. Towards the end, we cleared off the snow and took turns sliding on the ice. It was really fun until poor Ivan took a digger on his face - straight into the ice. He cut his lip and got a bloody nose! Needless to say, we hustled home after this and took care of Ivan. He was fine, but it was a scary moment. Turned out to be a fun end to the day. Here are some photos of our little trip out on the ice:
