2 Wrongs Don't Make a Right

Saturday was just a great day, but there was a little contention over golf that bubbled up right before our BBQ. It turned out okay and I think we all learned a ton about the experience. I was able to take Devan golfing on Thursday afternoon and it was really fun. So, when Shawn asked if I could play on Saturday, I thought I had permission from Amy. But, Shawn backed out right when Devan and his Dad agreed to play. Amy was NOT happy about this at all, but I didn't really know how upset she was until I got home. We both kind of blew up a bit over the issue, but we worked through it and we even had a nice FHE on Sunday about understanding the concerns and stresses of each other. It was VERY good.

This was actually the second time in a week that I made a wrong choice. I need to do better. The first time was on Wednesday night. It was the night before the first day of school. I made it home from mutual and then I was able to give back-to-school blessings to all of the kids. That was actually a really great experience. I felt that I had the spirit with me and was able to communicate some awesome blessings to the kids. But, right afterwards, I left quickly to meet up with my friends at the theatre to watch the new Fantastic Four movie. Wow - that was the WRONG thing to do. Even my kids were wondering where I was when they wanted me to put them to bed on the night before school starts! Yep - I felt pretty bad about that one!

I learned a bunch this week - I need to put my family first over all of these other "priorities". The happiness of my wife and kids in the end makes me much happier than any of these other things I want to do!
