Colorado Springs Vacation - Day 1

Our final little get-away of the summer has finally begun! I will say that although the summer has been super fast, it's been a great summer! I'm sad to see the summer come to a close (like I am very year), but I'm also excited about Fall - my favorite time of the year!

Today is actually Sunday, not a typical start day for us for vacations, but due to Alyssa's Harp recital (see other post), we couldn't leave any earlier and we have to be at the zoo early on Monday morning, so we had to leave on Sunday.

But, since we were driving right by their home, we did stop at Ryan and Jennica's house to join them in celebrating Ben's 3-year old birthday. Such a special day for him - he's such a cute little boy!

We also got to play outside a bit and it was really fun! Jarrett loved their little basketball hoop! I'm glad we stopped by.

We left at about 7:30pm and drove the rest of the way down to Colorado Springs. We got VERY lucky - thanks to our GPS and a tender mercy of The Lord. I saw some traffic build up in downtown Denver. I pulled up the GPS and we found a route right through downtown that bypassed I-25. Turns out there was an accident that we missed and only lost a couple of minutes for the detour instead of >30 min if we had stuck with I-25!

That extra 30 min helped. We were all tired when we reached the hotel - our rooms were further apart than we wanted (and on different floors), but we scheduled a way to fix that the next day and then we all went to bed!
