Historic Stake Conference

We are now a part of the Windsor Colorado Stake!! I think it is incredible that only 15 years ago, Windsor had a branch and now there is a stake! So cool! We had an incredible Stake Conference this weekend. I attended the leadership meeting yesterday, and it was really great. I was deeply struck by President Chris Lewis' remarks about his wife. It made me realize that I need to take more time to "know" my sweet wife! I also need to place her first in all aspects of my life. I've not been doing either of those things and I need to repent. I also need to repent of doing a really poor job with scripture study and daily prayer. In general, my life has NOT been dedicated to The Lord or to my family in the way it should be. I've been too consumed with my job and my poor health - those are excuses and it's time to change!

After the adult session last night, Amy and I went out to the Bent Fork Grill after we picked up my suit from Jos. A Bank. We really enjoyed our meal, but I took the time to tell Amy of my plans to change and I asked for her help. We both committed to do better and I think we will. We are going to plan an anniversary trip to Hilton Head Island in early October and I'm really looking forward to spending some quality time with my sweet wife! She is such a huge blessing to me! I would be lost without her and I need to let her know that every day of my life!

While I'm on the topic of self improvement, I also need to exercise better - I'm not feeling well at all and my lack of exercise is not helping! I will start the new drug "Enbrel" this week and I'm hoping it really makes a difference in my health. I'm in pain pretty much all of the time and I'm really hoping this new drug will make a difference for me!

Finally - it's time for me to be more pure in my life! I think I waste way too much time on facebook and other types of social media. I'm just spending too much time worrying and thinking about things that just don't matter! I need to re-deploy that time torwards much more productive things, like writing in my journal and reading my scriptures. I should also start to read more books and put away my little movies that also waste time. In summary - I need to grow up a bit and get my life in order. As I watched these great men get called into 2 new stake presidencies, it was definitely a time of self reflection and I really want to do better - starting tomorrow!

Back to the topic - there will not be 2 stakes east of I-25. The Windsor ward will consist of the following wards:

  • Severance Ward
  • Windsor Ward
  • Bison Ridge Ward
  • Johnstown Ward
  • Carlson Farm Ward
  • Milliken Ward
  • Peakview Ward

The Windsor Stake building will be the Trilby building even though none of our units will meet in that building, which is kind of crazy. That will probably change over time.

The new Stake Presidency of the Windsor Stake will be President Packard, President Lewis and a new gentlemen from the Bison Ridge ward. He has a really great testimony, so I'm excited to have him!

The Greeley Stake will be the rest of the Greeley stake with President Wolfley (awesome), President Hatch (great man) and another humble man that I didn't know.

After church, we had a great afternoon. We went on a family bike ride around the neighborhood. Amy, Ashtyn and I all got new bikes yesterday, so it was pretty awesome to be able to ride all together today. Aubrey is riding without training wheels now, so it was a pretty fast ride. I went home teaching from 4pm to 5pm (fastest ever, but still great visits) and then we had an awesome steak dinner. Around 6pm, the Murray's came over to practice the song they will be doing in Sacrament next week "Gethsemane". Ella sings, Connor plays piano, Alyssa plays the harp and Ashtyn plays the cello. They sound great!

We hung out with the Murray's, played some backyard volleyball and soccer and had a great time. Then we had s'mores and read scriptures around the fire. It was probably a perfect Sunday!! I will admit that I even enjoyed being there 1.5 hours early to hand out fliers showing the changes to the Ward boundaries. It was fun to hang out and meet the members!
