A cozy Sunday with the Family

Today was Ward Conference and it was the first Ward Conference for me as the Young Men's president. It turned out to be a really great day, though! I have to be honest that I was a little afraid that I wouldn't see my family for most of the day, but everything worked out well. Before I talk about today, I think I just want to bring this blog up to speed with the entire weekend:

  • Friday - probably one of the most productive days of work for me in quite some time. It was great. Amy let me play basketball in the morning, which is always a sacrifice for her, so I'm super grateful when she lets me go. It made the day for me! I felt really good and I was able to stay focused. It was a very successful day, for sure. When I got home, we had dinner together and then we all had a massive movie night. Ashtyn and I watched "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters", Alyssa and Amy watched "The Hobbit" and Jantzen and Aubrey watched "The Croods". Normally we all watch the same movie for family movie nigth, but we mixed it up a bit this time. It was really fun.
  • Saturday was a great day, I mean a REALLY great day! Amy and I woke up early and left for the temple at 7am. Lauren Moore watched the kids for us. We set an appointment with the temple for the 8:30 session for sealings and we requested President Brown to be our sealer. He was and it was really awesome. We were actually a little disappointed when we learned that the session was over. I really think I could have stayed in there for hours longer! Everytime a couple switched out, President Brown would take a few minutes to teach us. It was incredible and we were all just amazed at what we learned. I wish I could have recorded everything! When we got home, we just stayed home. We did chores, worked on finances, played games, ordered pizza and watched the Olympics. Amy and I even enjoyed a nice nap in the afternoon. Really, it was an awesome Saturday!
  • Today started with some great biscuits and gravy as a family this morning. Then, I picked up Chad and Jonathan and we met with the Stake YM presidency at 10am. We had a great little meeting and we definitely learned a few pointers on things we can improve on this upcoming year. I was really excited about it! The 3-hour block went really well today and I thought that the sacrament talks, President Wilson's SS lesson and President Marion's youth lesson were all really great. After church, Brother Dalton and I did a couple of visits. We met with Cory Buys right after church. It turns out that he has gotten a girl pregnant and he's looking for work over the next couple of months before he goes to military school to try and finish his GED. He's made some pretty rough decisions recently and we are going to do what we can to help him. He has spoken with both the Bishop and the Stake President, so that is really good. He will definitely be in my prayers! After visiting with Cory, we visited with Preston Greene (and we combined the visit as a home teaching visit) and it was also a great visit! I REALLY enjoyed some of the things that I heard and I'm excited to try to help him out with getting more involved in scouting and duty to god. We are definitely going to try to improve things!
  • Well, it's late, Amy and I have both been feeling sick and it's time for me to get some sleep! I'm super tired!! It's going to be another long week as I have to be in California for 3 days and 2 nights this week!! Crap!!
