There are definitely perks that come when your birthday falls on a Friday. My wonderful family let me celebrate for the entire weekend! It was great! Here are the events of the weekend:
- After returning very late from California, I finally fell asleep around 1am. I couldn't sleep in since I needed to take the kids to "donuts for Dad's" at Rangeview Elementary at 7:30am. That was actually really fun and the kids were excited to have me home. I must say that I really love my kids and I pray that we can keep the close and loving relationship that we have now forever!!
- After dropping the kids off at school, I took the day off work and returned home. I was so tired from a lack of sleep all week that Amy just let me take a nap. I basically slept until about 10:30am. It was awesome!!
- After I woke up, we dropped Aubrey off at the Ame's home to play and Amy and I went to Loveland. We did some shopping at Macy's, The Buckle, J.S. Banks and Dick's after enjoying a great lunch at Panera Bread. It was a really nice 3 hours with Amy. Much needed!
- We rushed home to pick up Aubrey and meet the kids after school, only to learn that Alyssa had missed the bus. I went to pick her up and she was very excited to see me. That always makes me feel good!
- For the next couple of hours, I looked into doing to taxes, which was very depressing! I learned that we will not be getting a very big refund at all, probably around $4000 (state and federal combined). That's actually a pretty decent refund, but given the fact that we paid close to $100,000 in taxes (combined) it was extrememly frustrating! I was hoping that we would get a big enough refund that it will help us pay off the rest of the basement, but it looks like I will need to exercise more options this week! Dang!!
- For dinner, we decided to go to Texas Roadhouse, where I ate WAY too much! But, it tasted great and we really enjoyed ourselves. Here's a fun photo of me on the horse:
- After dinner, we came home and watched the opening ceremony for the Winter Olympics in Sochi. Unfortunately, we were all VERY exhausted and we feel asleep really quickly. I don't think we lasted very long at all. I did try to watch some of it, but I slept through a bunch of it.
- On Saturday, we relaxed a bunch. We slept in, I did the finances and ran the dogs around the neighborhood. We cleaned the house bit and watched more Olympics while we ate lunch. Went into town to see the Lego movie and did a little shopping. It was opening weekend for the Lego movie and it was VERY difficult to get a seat. We actually had to come back for a different showing since our original 2:20pm showing sold out. But we ended up with great seats and we really enjoyed the movie!
- After the movie, we had a blast as a family in Target. I must say, it was so much fun to be together in the store. We just laughed and played and sang silly songs. It was great. For dinner, we grabbed some Pizza at Pulcinelli's and flew home to eat and watch more Olympics. I would consider yesterday to be a near perfect day. It was awesome!
- Today, Sunday, was also a great day. Church went very well. Shawn Murray was released from the Bishopric so that Kari Murray could serve as the new YW president. It will be really fun to serve with her. Cassie was really awesome to serve with as well!! I really enjoy their cute little family. I can't believe that she is only 28 years old! Wow - that's young now that I look back on things!
- Scott Nackos is the new counselor in the Bishopric and I think he'll do a great job. He's such a stud and I love chatting with him!!
- We had a great lesson on the Plan of Salvation during priesthood and I must say that I really love teaching those young men. They are really great!! I will admit that I didn't have the spirit with me as strongly as I've had in the past. I could have prepared more and I definitely need to be diving deeper into the scriptures during my daily studies. I'm really lacking in that department right now. Time to repent and do better. I look to do that tomorrow.
- On a similar topic - I've really put on some weight with all of the travel over the last few months. I'm tipping the scales at 228 right now and I need to be closer to 205 to really feel good about myself. I'm also very weak in the muscle department. I can't wait for my basement to be finished so that I can really start diving into P90X2. I really need that!!
- Okay - I'm exhausted! It's time for bed!
