Cold, Rainy & Dreary in California

It's my last day as a 37-yr old and maybe that explains the "blah" feelings I've had all day. I've actually had a very productive day, but it was just boring! I changed my travel last week so that I could stay for a meeting this afternoon and that meeting was cancelled, leaving me here in CA all day today with very little to do. Pretty sad actually! But, I was able to get a bunch done so I should be happy about that (but I'm not).

The main purpose of the trip was to visit with Oracle yesterday for the RFQ review of three of their chips (Newport, Blackstone River & Forest Hill). I was NOT happy with how things turned out during the review. I really felt like I was "tap-dancing" during most of the review, but I did learn a ton about the importance of improved preparation for these RFQ reviews. I'm going to ensure that my team does a better job scrubbing the quotes to ensure that we present a more solid face technically!

The worst thing about the meeting is that we ended up being 2 hours late due to United's flight issues. They spent 3.5 hours thawing out the plane and it caused us to be late, which ticked off the VP of sales and we got into a little trouble. Next week, I have another RFQ review with Google and I'm going to have to go out the night before this time! Oh well!

We finished the quote review at 3:30pm, then we checked in at the "San Jose Airport Hotel", which is not really a bad hotel. We worked from the hotel until 6pm, then we went to hang out with Brocade at the Sharks-Stars hockey game. By this time, we were VERY tired! Here's a few photos of our evening at the SAP center. I will say that I enjoyed spending time with Brocade and we may have a real shot with those guys down the road!
