Church Open House & Dedication

Wow - I can't remember the last time I have had such a busy weekend, with nearly all of the weekend dedicated to church activities. Here's how the weekend went:

  • Saturday - 8am - I had 15 youth and 4 leaders over for breakfast and our annual planning session for next year. It went well, but was really crazy. It was a challenge to keep the kids focused on planning, but we successfully planned out the year, which is a good thing!
  • At 10am, we started the open house for the new Ward building. We have such a nice new building now and it's still pretty incredible that we have a Ward building in Windsor!! Everyone did such a great job with the open house. I took a bunch of photos of the displays as it was really a great display and everyone put in a ton of work to make it happen. Here are the photos:

This last photo is extra special - Ashtyn is participating in a cello ensemble as a part of the open house. Super proud of her. She's doing a really great job at Cello and I'm glad she loves it so much.

With Amy in charge of all of the music for the Open house and with me as the YM president, we spent pretty much the entire day at the chapel, so we were pretty excited to leave at 6pm. The Huff's had us over for pizza afterwards and that was really fun. We just relaxed at their house and we had a nice time. I will admit that Amy let Shawn and I get out for 9 holes of golf in the afternoon. It actually a ton of fun. I shot a 40 and I was playing pretty well. The greens weren't in good shape though..

On Sunday, church was a pretty long day. I had Ward Council at 7am, which was pretty good. I even showed up on time and gave the spiritual thought! Incredible! Church went as planned and we had a couple of hours before we went to Aubrey's pre-school Christmas program at the Church in Windsor at 3pm. Afterwards, we went home, grabbed some snacks, then we took off to the church for the dedication. We had choir practice, so we had to be their early, plus Amy played the organ. The dedication turned out to be a really great meeting, but I must admit that I was surprised that so few people showed up. We barely filled the chapel even though we had chairs setup all the way into the gym. I'm glad we went though. President Packard gave a great dedicatory prayer. It was a super nice evening, but we went home and collapsed.
