Trip to Mexico - GO!

Amy and I are sitting comfortably in the exit row on our Southwest flight to Cancun, Mexico. We are SO excited about this trip! Actually, Amy has been a little nervous about the trip and she's even been pretty hostile towards me recently. I'm not sure why this has been happening, but I really hope that we can work through the issues and find some peace and happiness this next week. We have been going at 100 MPH recently and it just needs to stop. We need to spend some time investing in each other this week. I've definitely got some things to improve about myself as well! Here's a quick list of the things I would like to do better in the new year - we can call these my new-year resolutions, but I want to start early - next week:

  • Exercise - I need to exercise daily. I have not been doing this and it's one of the primary reasons why I have not been very happy over the last several months. My health has really suffered this year and it's time to take charge and make a change. I want to start getting up early, exercising at the gym at work, then returning home to help Amy with the kids. Once the gym opens at Harmony, I will switch to use their gym since it will be closer.
  • Diet - I want to start packing lunch for myself each day. I have to pack the kids most every day, I might as well pack one for myself. It will be healthier and it will give me back 30min of each day to get work done! I also want to start counting calories a bit as well. I would like to get back to 200lbs (need to lose 20-30 pounds.
  • Scripture Study - I have really been bad at this. I want to change and do much better. Goal will be 30min per day. When I actually do study, I really love it and I feel good. I just need to be doing this every day! I would like to study all 4 books with the institute manuals over the next 2 years. If I study 30min per day, I know that I can do it!
  • Family time - I have finally reserved time to volunteer at the schools, which is awesome. But, I also need to find time to go on dates. Not just with the kids, but also with Amy. We've haven't gone on good dates recently and I think it's part of the reason why we've grown a part a bit. We need to improve on this! I need to improve on this!! My family is the most important thing in the world to me. I need to treat my family as the TOP priority all the time!
  • Journal - I think I've done a pretty good job, but I could do better. I would like to use my journal as a way to report my success in the 4 areas above over the next year. Let's see how well I do.

Anyway - Amy and I are very excited to go on our trip. I'm hoping that she gets much more excited about it herself so that we can really enjoy our time together. It's going to be a blast!!

Here's our photo on the plane - yeah!!
