Wow - what a great night's sleep! The number one objective of this first day of vacation was to get some sleep. Especially for Amy! We did just that - sleeping until past 9am - we were exhausted. We spent the morning relaxing, laying by the beach and just being lazy. It was really beautiful outside and we just loved being together, reading books and just doing nothing. Honestly, I was a little surprised at how long it took to adjust to having so much free time - I was a little anzy at first, but it worked out great. Here as the great view outside our resort room. We had a private cabana and we walked right out to the beach. It was really very nice!
After spending the morning out in the ocean, laying by the beach, swimming in the water and just relaxing, we returned to our room to find another towel creation by the cleaning ladies. These towl creations are just awesome!
I also took a few photos of the outside of the resort during the day time. We really picked a great place for our vacation! Super awesome!
Here are some fun shots of us playing in the water. The water was very warm and we did some body surfing and we genuinely loved being together, playing in the ocean. It was awesome!
As you can see by the photos above, the clouds and the storms started to roll in around noon. We could have enjoyed the beach a little more if we hadn't slept in, but we needed the sleep, so it was okay.
Once it started raining, we cleaned ourselves up, had lunch, then went into town. Our goal was to find the local Walmart and buy a new camera for our trip to Chitzen Itza on Wednesday. We used the hotel's umbrella and we set out on our adventure using our GPS. Although it was raining pretty hard, this was one of the best parts of the trip. We both just love being out with the people, exploring the world around us.
As you can see above - the Walmart sign! We made it. It was about 10 blocks away, not too far. The Walmart was a very interesting experience. It was full of people, had very long lines and I will definitely say that it was nice the greatest experience. We spent over 45 minutes waiting for our camera after we bought it and we were even sold a timeshare while we were waiting. We were definitely NOT interested in the timeshare, but it was crazy that we were targeted even in the Walmart!!
Finally, we finished at Walmart and we basically sprinted to the Hertz rental car place. We arrived about an hour late, but we picked up our car around 6pm. We rented a little Mitsubishi - it was an okay car and it did have bluetooth, which was nice for listening to music. After we got the car, we quickly went to the hotel, and changed clothes. We had a reservation at the "Chef's Plate", which was a 7-course meal that normally costs $80 per person. For us, it was included in the cost of our room.
When we finished our meal, which was incredible, we were both still a little hungry. We had both walked a ton and we even went for a run on the beach in the morning, so we decided we should try another place, at least for dessert. We went to the Mediterranean place, which featured a live violinist. It was a great place, but we ended up ordering too much food. Amy actually got pretty mad a me for wasting food, which was a little crazy - it's an all you can eat place - in my mind, it's okay to waste a little food. Anyway, here's some photos of our second meal that night:
Finally, before going to bed, we enjoyed walking around the hotel a bit and taking in the beauty of the ocean. It was such a nice place to be!
