Ashtyn's Orchestra Concert

We got to spend the evening listening to Ashtyn's orchestra concert. It was actually a really neat concept. They split everyone into groups of 2-6 kids and they did their little "ensemble" performances together. Ashtyn's little group did a very good job and they may have come out as the best performing group. They sounded really good together and I was very proud of Ashtyn. She really loves to play the cello and she's getting good. She's also getting very TALL - it's nearly time to buy her a full-size cello! Here are a few photos of her performance:

I couldn't take a photo of their actual performance - they did a number where they turned off the lights and played a "Star Wars" intro piece. They tied glow-sticks to their bows (looked like ligh sabres) and the had book lights for their music. Very impressive to say the least. It turns out that it was Ashtyn's idea and they did a great job!

I also have to add that the little boy in their group has a little crush on Ashtyn and actually sent her a Valentine. He asked her to be his "girlfriend" for the night and she said "No". Probably because we told her she can't have a boyfriend until she's 16+. She's adorable! And she's growing up so fast!! Wow!
