The final day with ZTE. Greg and Frank showed up for today and it did not go as planned. I was thinking it would be an easy day as I thought we had aligned with ZTE on schedule since we had walked through the schedule a bit with Yijun (the customer). However, ZTE management was NOT aligned with the schedule and it was pretty obvious. Jerry, Cicy and I walked through the first milestone together, but we did NOT align fully on the schedule ahead of the executive review, which was unfortunate. It became a sore spot during the executive review and we ended up pulling in the schedule by a full month - not a very good thing at all, but we should be able to put plans in place to make it happen if we work at it!
For lunch, we did a round table and it was fun to eat with Greg and Frank. They have pretty good attitudes about the food, and Kevin did a MUCH better job picking things that are more appealing to Americans! We still took some photos of some of the crazy food for fun!
Although the executive review was filled with some friction in several areas, we did have a great time in the evening. Wayne (the Avago sales manager) scheduled a DKO celebration dinner at the same restaurant we ate at on Monday night. It was actually really good food, all around, and we really enjoyed hanging out with the customer. Wayne had us sit in alternate patterns with the ZTE team. It was VERY good to get to know these folks on a more social level. Establishing relationships of trust will be very important to this account. I just pray that we do a good job executing the program so that I don't get thrown under the bus! I've been asked to drive this program, so the pressure is on!!
