General Conference - Sunday Afternoon Session

We now have Adam & Mary and their family as well as Ryan & Jennica with their two kids. We have conference playing upstairs and downstairs. After conference, we will enjoy Easter dinner together. Should be a really fun afternoon and evening. Here are my notes from this session:

1st Speaker: Elder Robert D. Hales

  • Speaks of the cornerstones of Religious freedom. I didn't have too much time to take notes - was taking care of the baby.

2nd Speaker: Elder Kevin W Pearson

  • Lessons from Lehi's Dream
  • 1.) Never forget to pray
  • 2.)
  • 3.) Press forward with faith
  • 4.) The Book of Mormon is key to spiritual survival
  • - Unless we study everyday, we will become spiritually blinded instead of spiritually minded
  • 5.) Don't be led astray by others that profess to have the truth...
  • 6.) Stay by the Tree - we stay because we are converted by The Lord
  • - Apostacy is the opposite of conversion - we are headed one way or the other
  • If you get off the trail - there's a simple way back - prayer and study of the Book of Mormon

3rd Speaker: Elder Rafael E. Pino

  • Discusses perspective - it is important to have the right perspective to understand the real mission and plan.
  • Reminds me of the conversation of the discussion we had with Heinrich around the tree in Paris many years ago. The true Gospel gives us a perspective that we wouldn't have any other way.

4th Speaker: Elder Niel L Anderson

  • Gives personal stories and backgrounds in Haiti, Thailand and the Ivory Coast
  • Great talk!

5th Speaker:

  • Didn't catch his name - another Spanish speaker - but it was a good talk

6th Speaker:

  • An African speaker - great talk as well

7th Speaker: Russell M Nelson

  • Excellent talk on Sabbath Day worship - the important of keeping the Sabbath Day holy!
  • Parents have many things available to us to help us teach children about the Gospel during family time. We should have fun, we should strengthen relationships, but we should also take the opportunty to teach whenever possible!
  • Family History work is a great thing to do on the Sabbath Day
  • True believers keep the Sabbath Day Holy!!
