Successful visit to London

I'm leaving Chicago, on my way back to Denver after a great visit with the Elway team in London. This program is very complex and super long, but it is in really great shape and the ASIC teams are doing a great job!

We left on Sunday, right after sacrament meeting. I had time to run home, change clothes, throw my bags in the car and drive to work to meet everyone. Unfortunately, in my rush to get to work, I forgot to throw my toiletries into my bag, so I had to re-purchase them in London!

The flight out to Houston was great, but at the end, we detoured around a big storm. That same storm swept through the airport and grounded our flight to London for 2.5 hours. We just had to sit and chill for 2.5 hours on the tarmac.

We arrived in London around noon and got to our hotel around 2pm. We had lunch at "Pret A Manger", then we headed over to the Tower of London, toured Tower Bridge, took a water taxi to Trafalga Square, enjoyed an awesome dinner at a nice little Italian place, then spent a few minutes at Picadilly Circus before heading home to sleep. During all of the this, I had 2 calls with Francis and I presented a few slides to Synopsys on our upcoming ASIC roadmap. It was a busy day (we estimate that we walked over 5 miles), but it was a good day. Here are some photos from Day 1:

Above is a Roman Wall, built in like 70AD - super old and right next to the Tower of London. Incredible how old Europe is compared to the USA!

The shot above is a quick shot that I took of the Crown Jewels. Right after taking the photo, I was yelled out for using my camera! Oops!

Look at my here - I need to lose some weight. I'm going to get myself on a solid diet regime when I get back from China in a couple of weeks. I'm going to try to get Amy to do it with me! I need to lose some weight to start feeling better again!

On this trip, there were actually 8 of us from Avago (Jason B, Jason W, Gayvin, Scott, Brad, Royce, Greg and Sean)

The photos below were from the Armory - the highlight for me - I had never visited the armory before!

That is actually a doorway behind me! Wow!

This next place was a tower where they kept prisoner for a REALLY long time. Long enough that they carved messages into the stones in the tower. There was some pretty incredible artwork done in that tower!

After visiting the Tower of London, we all went over to the Tower Bridge. A couple of us had visited before, but it was still a nice place to visit and we had incredible views. The weather was the best I've ever experienced in London, so it was nice to be outside a bit. Here are some photos of the Tower Bridge:

After our 1 hour tour of the Tower Bridge, we decided to jump on a water taxi to meet Sean Cardwell at Picadilly Circus for dinner. Here's some photos from the water taxi:
