I did pull myself out of bed to run on the treadmill this morning, but it was VERY painful and I barely managed to make it happened. I only ran a mile because I slept so late, but I did have time to get ready and have breakfast before we departed for ALU's site. We spent the entire morning discussing the clocking scheme and in the end, we finally aligned on a plan. That discussion and final aligment was worth the time AND money for the trip. Very good results!!
At noon, I skipped out to go pick up Greg from the hotel. He arrived early in the morning and wanted to meet the team for lunch. Unfortunately, our lunch reservations at the Old Orchard were not until 1:30pm, so we just continued to listen to the on-going clocking discussion for Q4. Again - these were very fruitful architecture-related discussions. it was very good to align on the plan.
For lunch, the food at the Old Orchard was great. I had the fish and chips just to make sure I had it at least once on the trip. It is definitely a HEAVY meal, but it tasted great.
The view from the porch of the Old Orchard is fantastic. Last time we came, we ate here at night, so we missed out on this incredible view!
After lunch, I had to take Greg back to the Hotel so that he could attend the yearly AOP meeting with Hock & Bryan. He had spend literally weeks working on the slides, so I'm looking forward to seeing the final deck. He did report that the meeting went well.
Rather than head back to ALU, I decided to work from the Hotel for a bit, which was good - I made some good progress on things, but I still have a little more work to do to finalize the Elway dashboard and officially release it for full consumption at Elway. At about 5pm, I decided to leave and check out Windsor and Windsor castle. I was very impressed with the place. Here are some photos that I took of the visit. Unfortunately, the castle was already closed, but I really enjoyed walking around for a bit. I was there for about 30 min, just walking around.
I quickly stopped in to use the restroom at McDonald's. I had to take a photo of the interior! Definitely a unique McD's.
After a quick visit (it took nearly an hour to get there due to traffic, but only 20 minutes to get back), I had a 30min teleconference with Tammy to discuss some pending SerDes updates. The meeting went well and it was good to get alignment with her.
At 8pm, we met in the lobby for dinner. We decided to do Indian food this time. We walked about 15 minutes to a place and the food was great. I ate WAY too much, but I enjoyed the meal. It was good to spend one last meal with the team. Great ending to a great trip.
