Once again, I'm sitting in an airplane on my way to California. It seems like I've been doing this every week, and in reality, I think it has been pretty close to every week! This time, I'm headed out to visit with HP in Roseville, CA for today. Tomorrow, I drive down to San Jose to meet with Oracle, Cisco and eInfo. Should be a very interesting trip to CA. Here's the beautiful view outside my window right now. I really love living in Colorado and I'm very glad that I have made it my home.
This morning, we had to meet at work at 5:30am to get down to the airport in time. I actually woke up at 4am and decided to go for a run. It felt really good and I'm very glad that I went. As I was running, I realized that this year marks 20 years since I graduated from high school. Crazy! I can't believe how fast that time has flown by. I'm definitely getting old and it is just wild to think about my little family growing up and being out of the house in the next 20 years. Before I know it, I will be a grandpa. That is just crazy!
Speaking of "grandpa", my Dad was released as the Bishop of the Weaverville Ward this past Sunday. I need to give him a call this week and find out how he's doing. He has been a Bishop or in the Stake Presidency for 23 years in a row. I'm sure he's feeling a little weird right now. He has always been a role model for me and I love him dearly!
Yesterday, I had one of the most frustrating days that I've had in a long time. My MacBook Air had some sort of OS issue and it would not boot. I had to take it to the Simply Mac store and they fixed it quickly for me. But, the "fix" was to re-load the OS and wipe the drive. I didn't lose any data, but now I have to wait another couple of days for Avago to re-image the drive so that I get an Avago image. What a pain in the eye!! I didn't get anything done yesterday, so the day was extremely frustrating. What's worse is that the loaner laptop that I was given for the current business trip is a piece of garbage! The battery life is less than 30 minutes. I'm not even going to be able to work much on the plane for this trip! Drives me bananas!
We did finally have a very successful Court of Honor at church last night. The attendance was pretty good, we were able to hand out some awards, and we had a bunch of fun doing some skits and making everyone laugh. It ended up being a great evening with the boys and I'm glad we pulled it together. Afterwards, we had a pretty good YM presidency meeting, even though we were missing a couple of leaders. It was another LONG evening serving in the church, but it was good. My YM calling has definitely taken a ton of time already this year. I feel like I've been doing something for YM every day! It's been super crazy. But, I'm enjoying the opportunity to serve.
Last night, before falling asleep, I got to feel the baby move a ton. We are getting very close to having another little baby in our lives. Pretty exciting, but also very crazy that we are about to have another life changing event in our family. I'm also hoping that the basement finish completes VERY soon so that we can move on from that as well. Needless to say, the next 3 months are going to be very busy and very expensive as we finalize the basement finish and make final preparations for the baby. Additionally, I learned from Greg on the car ride this morning that the LSI acquisition will finalize in the April timeframe, so I expect work to get VERY busy as well. I knew that 2014 was going to be a crazy year, but wow, I feel like the gas pedal has been down to the floor since we got back from Christmas. Throw in the fact that I haven't had my laptop in 2 days and it makes sense that the stress level seems to be rising!! Thank goodness for 4am runs in the morning - they really clear my head and make me feel better!
