Wow - what a crazy trip to London this has turned out to be. The morning turned out as expected, with a nice trip to Denver and an on-time departure to Dulles. However, in Washington, things went a little crazy! The plane had some mechanical problems and was delayed for over 3 hours. It turned out okay since we were able to get a little extra work done on the slides and make some good progress on a few issues. However, I will say right away that I really miss my family. I have been traveling a ton since we got back from Christmas and I'm ready to spend a few weeks at home with the kids without traveling! I am excited that we get to go to Utah together right when I get back. If we are lucky, we will even get to go skiing this Friday at Snow Basin. I hope we do get to go since I really enjoy taking the kids skiing. We'll see what happens...
It has been a few days since I've been able to write, so I will try to catch up the blog a bit. I will start off with a quick summary of Saturday (yesterday). Here are some of the highlights:
- Biscuits & Gravy with the YM - at 8am, the YM came over for some great biscuits and gravy with our family. I only had 4 of the YM show up, but that was all that we really needed. We arrived at the Stake Center at about 8:45am and within 15 minutes, we had setup chairs within the entire Stake Center for General Conference. I was pleased that Kyle, Thomas, Travis and Connor came to serve. Preston was also there when we arrived.
- Finances & Fast Offerings - I spent a few hours getting the finances in order after writing a HUGE check to Greg for the next installment of the basement finish. We finally have finished drywall downstairs. The will do the texture on Monday & Tuesday and then it will be ready for paint and the rest of the finishes. I'm hoping that things really start to accelerate so that we can get this basement finished ASAP! I also re-organized the entire fast offering routes. It took a little while to pull it all together, but I think it turned out great. I'm glad it's done!
- Larkburger in Fort Collins - we tried a new place as a family and although the food was pretty good, it wasn't worth the wait and the drive. It was kind of funny that the kids spilled their drinks 4 different times while we sat there! :) We also picked up the crossbars for our Odyssey so that we can put a cargo box on the roof for our ski gear when we head back to Utah.
- Awesome Park by Zach Elementary - by far one of the best family outings that we've had in a long time! We played at the park for around 2 hours and it was really fun. We decided that I should skip the leadership meeting at Stake Conference so that I could spend more time with the family. Best decision that we've made in a long time! We had so much fun at this park. Here are some photos at the park:
- Stake Conference - Adult Session - this was a really great session and we enjoyed being there. It was actually pretty fun to sit behind the Watts and watch them with their little 6 month old. It really made Amy and I think for a second - wow - we are going to have a new baby very soon! Wow!!
- Speeding Ticket - that's right - on the way to Stake Conference, I was busted for going 51 in a 35 right by Rangeview Elementary in Severance. I just wasn't paying attention as I was talking to Amy. I did know that the speed limit was 35, but I was trying to get us to the Stake Center quickly so that we could get a good seat. That didn't work out - oh well! It was still worth the $140 ticket so that I could spend time with my family!! It was awesome!
- Dinner at the Coyote Grill - It was a great meal, but we weren't very hungry. I paid for it this morning - for sure!!
- Final photo - Gayvin, Jason and Ken shoved in the back of a too-small car on the way to the airport this morning - this is a classic photo!
