The three day trip to London is now over and I'm once again over the Atlantic on my way back home. It was a VERY long trip this time around. Since our flight was delayed, we only had a few hours to explore London, but we enjoyed what we saw. I've added some photos below of our short site-seeing adventures. The coolest thing for me was actually driving through London. They gave us a mini-van that had a manual transmission. That made it even more challenging, to say the least, but it turned out to be pretty fun. Ken did the navigating and I handled the driving. It was definitely an adventure and I really enjoyed it!
As for the meetings with Elway - wow - those were long days. We did lunch and dinner with them both days, starting at roughly 9am on both days and finishing dinner at close to 11pm. 14 hour days back-to-back with jet-lag - it was exhausting to say the least - but the meetings went REALLY well. We learned a bunch about their plans and where the program is headed. Shockingly, the Elway schedule is REALLY out in time. We are going to get immediately involved and start to make some real progress on things, but in the end, we won't see AR for these designs until late 2015 or early 2016. Very suprising, but good news since we are so very resource strapped right now. This should really help us out this year!!
Okay, here's some fun photos of our trip. First, the mini-van as we tried to park in London in a very small car-park. Check out Ken's face - he's thinking that I was just about to hit the pole, which I almost did! I ended up backing out of this space, turning around and backing in - it went pretty smooth after that.
Next, we took the train into London and we were starving, so we went to a wood-fire pizza place that served probably the best pizza that I have ever had! It was interesting that we asked Michael Clarke about the place and he commented that it was the best pizza place in the "world". I would have to agree since I don't think I've ever had pizza as good as this place. It was incredible! Franco Manca will be a place that I visit in the future!
Next, we headed to "tourist central" and we quickly visited Big Ben and the parliment. Unfortunately, we didn't get to spend as much time as we would have liked looking at things since we didn't arrive until 3pm. But we did go up in the London Eye, which was VERY cool. We also walked by the Tower of London and we took some photos of the Tower Bridge.
I also took some photos of a couple of the restaurants or "pubs" where we had dinner or lunch. First, the "King's Arms" is a pub right in the heart of Harefield in Uxbridge, which is where the Elway folks are located.
On the first night, we ate dinner at the "Oxford" restaurant in Harefield. This was actually a really good place to eat, even though it was still a pub. I really enjoyed the food - I had a rump steak that was cooked very nicely!
Finally, on the last night, we dined at a very nice Italian place. Again, the food was great, but I over-ate and was way too full. It was hard to even sleep as I just ate WAY too much!!
Well - time to start working through my emails and trying to get ahead of the game a bit!! I will also try to get a little sleep!
