I woke up at 3:30am on Friday morning to catch my 6am flight to California. We got in from Atlanta at close to 9pm on Thursday, so there wasn't really much time to sleep or even catch up on things. Needless to say, I was pretty tired. The good news - I was upgraded to first class on the flight to SFO and that really made the trip much nicer. I was able to sleep for about an hour and that really helped things out a bunch.
First up - I met with the folks at the Ridder Park building to do our final preparations for the pre-DKO meeting with Brocade for the Goldeneye4 design. We are totally excited about working with them. We've been trying to win a chip with them for YEARS and it feels really good to finally have the business and start working with them. They are excited to use our SerDes and I think the business will go really well. The meeting with them was very positive and we got things moving in the right direction with them. We were even given some urgent action items and we did a great job addressing them quickly on the same day. They even accepted our proposal to do the physical design in India, with Michael Porter and Kedar as the US lead and manager. Success!
After the Brocade meeting, we enjoyed lunch together, celebrating the successful meeting. I spent some time working on getting a meeting scheduled with Google to discuss some of the recent escalations that have occured. Due to this, I had to move my flight back from 5:40 to 8:40 --> not happy about this, but I didn't really have any options.
In the afternoon, we had our ASIC staffing discussion with Frank. It went really well. There have been some really positive things happening to help relieve our growing staffing problem in Fort Collins and it was good to get some alignment with everyone on our next steps.
Finally, I handled my escalation call with Google and I think it went really well. I have another follow-up on Monday. I've learned that I'm going to need to push back a bit on Google - they are asking us to do more than we should and I need to set some expectations with Google about how we operate so that we don't set the precendent in the future that we do more than is needed.
The good news about my flight being delayed is that I was mostly able to catch up on email, which as really awesome. I had a TON backed up from vacation and it felt good to get caught up. It will be a very busy week this next week, so I'm looking forward to making things happen!
Here's a really fun photo from the plane as we descended into San Francisco on Friday morning. It was a beautiful sight!
