Ottawa Canada

Its Wednesday morning here in Canada and it is a beautiful morning! I was able to get up this morning and run a 5k around a nice golf course and through a beautiful neighborhood. It was a really nice run and it felt really good to get out and exercise.

I have to admit that I lost my focus again yesterday. I tend to get a little lazy - a little loose - a little prideful and overly confident and secure - the opposite of humble. When I do - I lose focus and I feel like an IDIOT! Why can't I stay focused? Why can't I stay humble? Why do I want more than I already have? I am blessed in more ways than I can count! I have such an incredible life and have been blessed with an incredible family (I really love my family), a great job, awesome friends, a beautiful home, a fantastic ward and calling - my life is pretty incredible - but I seem to want more. I feel like I must constantly be entertained - like I deserve time to myself to be entertained each night. Maybe I should just stop that all together! I would do much better to just have extra sleep and time to study my scriptures every day - for sure! I need to pray about that - see if I think I can make it...

Anyway, it has been a good week here in Canada. The flight out was pretty uneventful - but I was upgraded to first class from SLC to Chicago, so that was pretty fantastic! I am here with Jason Welch and Brad Goertzen. There are also a few sales guys here for the meetings as well, which is kind of interesting since this is more of a technical deep dive.

On our first night here, we drove straight to down town and enjoyed the old town. It is a really nice town - complete with a parliment building and some very nice restaurants. Unfortunately, I was stuck having to take a couple of conference calls with customers. First, I spent an hour on the phone with Google, then I spent about 15 minutues with Linming from Brocade and Francis from Cisco. There's just a ton of issues going on right now, new business kicking off, tons of work to align - I just hope that I can keep up with things. It's pretty crazy. I definitely feel like I need to add some extra processes and checkpoints internally just to keep track of things and make sure we are on track. It's nuts.

That first night, after walking around for a bit and taking some nice photos on my SLR, we really enjoyed dinner at a great little pub, then we had a Beaver Tail (Ottawa version of a crepe on the street). It was awesome!

We are staying at the Brookstone Hotel here in Kanata, which is the high-tech hub abo`ut 20 min outside of downtown Ottawa. It is a super nice hotel - very impressed - especially for $79 a night. Wow!

Here are some photos of the hotel room and the views from the 14th floor.
