It has definitely been a long day in San Jose today. One of those "fly-in, fly-out" days. Pretty long, but not as long as some of the "fly-in, fly-out" days, for sure! Overall, it was a successful day. Here's how things happened:
- 7:30am - took the kids to school
- 8:30am - arrived at the airport - took forever to find a parking spot and ended up chosing a "reserved parking" spot that required me to pay an extra $4 on-line. It didn't work on my phone, but Amy helped me out after I got through security. She rocks!
- 9:30am - flight to San Jose - fairly productive. I did a little work to cross-check our demand/capacity slides and it turned out really well. I also worked through some email.
- Best scripture study ever! This part was AWESOME!! I studied 2 Nephi 5 today and I was very touched with the message and the power of this chapter. I've probably read the chapter more than 20 times, but I've never noticed some of the important part of the chapter like I did today. I was marking it up, identifying the keys to happiness that are captured in the chapter. This is also the chapter that talks about the "curse" put on the Lamanites. I learned a little about the "curse" and what it really means. Very cool! I was taking notes in my scriptures and really enjoying myself. Then, something happened that completed surprised me. A black guy behind me had been watching me study and take notes. He asked what the APP was and he plans on downloading it. Very cool missionary opportunity!
- 11:00am - landed in San Jose
- 11:30am - arrived at Ridder Park building
- 1:00pm - held meeting with the new on-site team. It was a really great meeting and I think the team is excited about the future!
- 2:00pm - held action-item review meeting with Elway team - went too long, but that's okay
- 3:00pm - bi-weekly meeting with Goldeneye4 team at Brocade. It was good for me to be there in person and to walk through the details with the customer.
- 4:30pm - met back at Ridder Park to review ZBB slides
- 5:30pm - drove to the airport - spoke with Venkat Ghanta (Cisco) and Amir Salek (Google) on the phone.
- 7:00pm - I'm on the plane now headed home. It's going to be a long night. If I don't get enough work done on the plane, I think I'm just going to go into work and work all night to get things done. I MUST have this Elway dashboard in place by Friday morning and I've had ZERO time to work on it. I also need to get the ZBB slides finished. It could be a VERY long night, but if I get everything done, it will be worth it!
Tomorrow, I have a big meeting with Google as well - it will be very interesting to see how that meeting goes.
