Paris 2017 - Day 3 - American Cemetery in Normandy

Today was such an incredible day for us on our trip to Paris.  We went to Sacrament meeting at the Saint Merri building in Paris and were surprised at how incredibly full the chapel was.  The meeting started 10 minutes late as it took that long to get everyone seated.  We were seated all over the building, in different rooms.  Luckily, we scored a row right up front.  There was only about 10 minutes left for testimonies as it took so long to pass the sacrament.  The meeting was in French and it was so nice to hear the gospel in the language that I love so dearly.

After church, we walked passed the Centre Georges Pompidou to the SIXT car rental place, where we picked up our Audi A4 for the 2-day rental.  It was election day in France and we were ready to get out of Paris to avoid any issues.  It turned out to be a rather tame day, but we were glad to be out of town and enjoying Normandy.  Here are a few photos of our exit from Paris.  We drove by the Louvre, place de la Concorde, around the Arc de Triomphe and then under La Defense.  It's been a while since I drove in Paris - it was fun.

Finally, after about 3 hours of driving, we arrived at the Normandy beaches to tour the American Cemetery.  This was a very appropriate thing to do on the Sabbath and it was really fun to enjoy the sacred place with Ashtyn and Alyssa.  Very special!

After the American Cemetary, we drove another 1.5 hours to our hotel for the evening.  It was a little stressful finding a place as several of our VRBO attempts came up empty since we were booking so close to the night.  But, we finally found a place on booking.com named "Hotel Rose".  It was literally perfect!  About 2 km from Mont St. Michel and a perfect little cabin for the four of us, the hotel even offered bikes that we used to get to/from Mont St. Michel.  We consider finding the hotel a tender mercy of the Lord.  After checking in, we biked up to Mont St Michel and learned what we needed in preparation for the next day, which turned out to be one of my top 10 days of all time!  I absolutely LOVE Mont St Michel!!
