Redwood Vacation 2017 - Day 6

Day 6 began with a 30-min drive down to the "Trees of Mystery", which is just north of Klamath, CA.  This is definitely a tourist trap area, but we were very excited to spend more time in the redwoods and to take the gondola up to the top of the mountain to look at the sea.  It was a little further from the sea than we hoped, but the views were still spectacular!  Here are some fun photos of our time in the Trees of Mystery!

After touring through the Redwoods, we stopped for lunch at the "Forest Cafe".  It was a great little place to each with really fun decor, but the service was VERY slow!  It took us over 1.5 hours to have lunch!

After lunch, we drove about 5 miles south to the "Tour Thru Tree", which was one of the things the family wanted to do the most - drive through a redwood tree.  I was a little worried about getting the huge Escalade through the tree, but we made it!  This was a really fun stop and everyone loved it!

Finally, we drove through some scenic areas around Klamath, thoroughly enjoying the beauty of this part of the world!

The photo below is of a WWII anti-aircraft and radar station disguised as a farmhouse - very cool!

If you look close below, you'll see sea lions fishing at the mouth of the Klamath river as it pours into the Pacific Ocean.
