I was really looking forward to today. The plan was to go into work, get a bunch of stuff done, then take off at 5pm to collect Tracie from the airport. My plan was destroyed within 5 minutes of walking in the door!
Almost as soon as I set down, Greg came into my cube and laid out a bunch of data that he wanted me to pull together so that he could be armed for some meetings with LSI. Wow! I wasn't really ready for all of this, to say the least! I knew that it would take me a bunch of work to update my staffing profiles to prepare for this and I was planning to take Friday off. So, to make it work, I offloaded a ton of my stuff to my managers so that I could focus on these new issues. That seemed to work pretty well, but I didn't make much progress on Greg's assignments. Too many interruptions and I found my self tackling new issues and other surprises that I hadn't planned to address. In the end, I did get a bunch of things finished, but I didn't leave work until about 5:45pm and Tracie's plane landed 30 minutes early, at 6:05pm! I did get to the airport in record time, though, and Tracie and I made it back home to Windsor by 8pm. The family was very excited to see her! We took a quick tour of the house, then we all went to bed.
