Amy and I are both shocked that we are several days into March already! February just flew by!! However, as March "marched" in to our lives, we enjoyed a really fantastic weekend! I can definitely say that we had one of the more relaxing and fun weekends than we've had in a long time. It was REALLY great!!
On Friday, my flight from San Jose went really well and then I had a pretty productive day at work. I was able to make some things happen in preparation for today's meetings with Cisco. I also met with Greg Sonntag on the basement progress - things are gaining momentum and it feels really good to see things progressing so well! We were hoping the basement would be done by the middle of March, but it looks like it won't be done until the end of March - dang it!!
Friday night was actually really fun. Even though Amy and I were both exhausted, we ventured out to the Midtown Arts Center to see "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!", which was basically a concert featuring a Beatles cover-band. They did a really great job and I was in major "reflection" mode! I kept thinking about Dad and Tracie. Finally, at intermission, I sent Tracie a text to see if she would be willing to fly out to Colorado to see the same show with me this coming weekend. Shockingly, she responded right away to my text and she accepted my proposal!! Awesome! So, I bought her plane tickets on Saturday morning and I secured the tickets to see the show this morning. She is going to spend the entire weekend with us and it will really be fun to spend time with her! I hope she does well - she seems to have panic attacks when she is around the family. I know that she's going to really love spending time with our dogs though! Should be a blast!! Here's a photo of the program from the show. I took pictures of the stage as well, but they didn't show up on my phone for some reason - not sure why?
On Saturday, I finally dove into the taxes. We really got taken this year - we made too much money and we don't have any good tax shelters built into our lives. I need to take a good look at doing something different this year. I definitely feel robbed!! But, we will still get a total refund of around $4k, so it could definitely be a bunch worse!
Saturday night was priceless. We attended a surprise party for Kristie Bement. She is engaged and will be moving to Nevada rather quickly to live with her new husband (after they get married of course). His name is Jim and his wife also passed away from brain cancer last year. They really appear to be a match made in heaven for each other and I wouldn't be suprised if that was the case. I had a great time meeting him (he also surprised her by showing up - she was not expecting him this weekend). Here's a quick shot of her coming in the door to the party - she was definitely surprised!! The second photo is the both of them shortly after he arrived. She was trying to publically thank everyone for coming. I really hope she recognizes the incredible & positive impact she has had on everyone's lives. I know this marriage thing was tough for her - only Mark showed up tonight because Michael and Matthew are having a hard time coming to grips with the change. His family is also struggling, but with time, I'm sure that everything will work out!!
Sunday was an awesome day - no meetings and no real responsibilities at church. It was an awesome day. We started a training class during the second hour at church to help us discuss best practices for teaching the youth. Matt Kelly was the instructor and he did a really great job!
Well, it appears that I need to try a diet approach to working on my back pain. My mother has suggested the Paleo approach and it will be a pretty difficult diet to adapt to. I have to pretty much drop all grains from my diet - wow!! That will be tough! I will try it for the next couple of weeks, though, and see if it makes a difference in how I feel - time will tell...
